Privacy Policy

Outsmart GPT is an independently operated daily puzzle site. There is no company behind it, no team, and no investor. Questions about this policy go to hello@outsmartgpt.com.

You cannot sign up for Outsmart GPT because there is nothing to sign up for. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth, and we do not run any login system, so we hold no user accounts and build no profile of you.

Your game history lives in your own browser under localStorage, never on our servers. Three keys are written:

• ogpt:resultsThe date and the win or loss for each round of your most recent set.
• ogpt:statsRunning totals: day streak, rounds won, rounds played.
• ogpt:consentWhether you allowed personalised advertising.

Clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings erases all of it permanently. Because none of it is synced, your record does not follow you to another browser or another device.

One round type, Stranger Than Fiction, scores a free-text answer by meaning rather than by exact match. When you submit that answer, the text you typed is sent to our server, which forwards it to the OpenAI embeddings API to compute a similarity score, returns the score, and discards both the request and the response. The text is not written to a database or a log file. No other round sends anything you type off your device.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server request logs, which include IP address, user agent, and requested path, for a short retention window. We do not query those logs to identify individual players.

When advertising is switched on, ads are served through Google AdSense. Before Google's consent tool loads, this site sends a default-deny consent signal, so ad storage, ad personalisation, and analytics storage all start denied.

If you consent, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies and use similar technologies to select and measure personalised ads, under their own privacy terms. If you decline, no AdSense code loads at all and we set no advertising cookies. To change your answer, clear this site's data and reload the page.

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we knowingly collect nothing from them. Since we collect no personal data from anyone, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to request deletion of beyond clearing the browser storage described above.

Rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability under laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA apply to personal data a site holds about you. We hold none, so there is no export to request and no record to delete. We do not sell or share personal information, because we have none to sell or share.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no mailing list, so the posted version is always the current one. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
